Bradley Tree is proud to be a part of a big project with the Village of East Aurora here in Western New York. This is a project that we have been working on getting started for some time, in an effort to help restore Hamlin Park to have a better look. The trees in this park have been in decline lately, losing their branches and showing other health concerns, and we were honored to do an assessment for the Village of East Aurora. You can check out the video here to learn more!
The Main Goal
The goal of this project is to preserve the park’s trees for as long as possible and to maintain safety for the community. We have worked with many members of the Village of East Aurora, the General Foreman for the Department of Public Works, Jeff Stoll, and the local Village of East Aurora Tree Board. Newly sworn-in Mayor Luke Wochensky has also been in support of the project already.
In this blog, we will talk more about this project in detail and how we worked to preserve the trees in Hamlin Park.
Breaking Down Our Hamlin Park Project
As we just alluded to, a place like Hamlin Park in East Aurora has gone through a lot of neglect, thus causing wear and tear damage to its trees. So many have been identified to be “high risk” in terms of their danger to the people because of dead wood on the bark and other structural defects.
The limbs and the branches were showing signs of being a danger to the local park, it’s infrastsurcrure, and most importantly, village residents and park visitors. Seeing trees get trimmed or cut down is not easy for us, but ultimately, the safety of people and the life of the tree can be impacted by the health of the tree, which requires action to be taken to remove the tree. This does not mean that all trees that are at risk need to be taken down, however. Proper pruning and trimming can help maximize the tree’s growth, and help a tree recover and improve its condition with some minor alterations.
Tree Pruning and Tree Trimming
Based on our assessment of Hamlin Park, roughly 160 trees needed care given to them. It was clear to us to prioritize hazardous removals, and in this case, that means reducing the tree to a lower risk of danger through tree pruning. Pruning is a strategic removal of specific tree parts, such as dead or dying branches, roots, or dead bark, all in order to enhance the rest of the tree’s health.

As we have noted on our website, the goal of tree pruning is to extend far past simply the look and cosmetic upkeep of having a tree on your own property or a public property like Hamlin Park. Also, because lots of these trees have a higher reach, that means there’s a need for professional equipment like ours at Bradley Tree (see picture below).
Tree canopies are where a lot of the dead or dying branches are located, and we have the tools to make sure they are pruned correctly. We will be releasing much more about the work done on this project on our Facebook, Instagram and YouTube pages so be sure to subscribe and follow Bradley Tree on there as well!
In the case of tree trimming, this is the process that works best to clear up any danger trees can cause and make it look better than before. Tree pruning is done to promote new growth, while tree trimming is done for cosmetic reasons and to remove dead growth.
In our video for the project, we talked about how that was a goal of ours with this project. We want to make sure it looks great and maintains safety for the community. Be sure to go and watch the video on our YouTube channel below!
Tree Preservation in 2026
One of the great things about this project for us at Bradley Tree is that it falls in line with one of our main goals for 2026, which is putting an emphasis on tree preservation and tree health. Hamlin Park and East Aurora are filled with oak trees, birch trees, and maple trees, as examples, all trees we want to preserve.
We will be using this project to help provide some in-depth education on the process of pruning and everything else we will be doing for the park over the next few weeks. If you want to join us on that journey, be sure to follow our social media on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
